Gender equity and social inclusion (GESI)

I led the cross-cutting issues, including GESI. Under the USAID Green Annamites Project, we conducted a baseline survey to identify gender and ethnicity gaps. Based on the identified gaps, I worked with the GESI consultant to develop the GESI Action Plan that incorporated the USAID Policy on Gender Equality and Female Empowerment. The GESI Action Plan was also developed based on the regulatory information indicated in the Law on Gender Equality as well as the Gender Action Plan (GAP) 2016-2020 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD). The MARD GAP identified six objectives related to women’s empowerment including (1) realize equal rights of women in career and job opportunities; (2) improve the quality of female labor sources; and improve equal participation of men and women in pre-service and in-service trainings; (3) increase presentation of women in leadership and management positions to reduce the gender gaps in politics; (4) realize equal rights of women and girls in access to health care services; (5) enhance gender equality in family and eliminate gender violence; and (6) improve the capacity of government staffs in areas of gender equality.
