There are two traditional approaches applied for planning: Top-Down and Bottom-Up. The Top-Down approach focuses on studying the sector environment, then trying to have a better understanding of who sector works and finally ending up with engaging with sector entities. The Bottom-Up is opposite with the Top-Down approach. Each approach has its own pros and cons. To maximize the advantages of these two approaches, I have applied the Participatory Integrated Approach during the last ten years for sustainable development project planning. This PIA has enabled the project implementer(s) to not only integrate with the macro development agenda but also meet very well the micro/local demands.
